Hello, my name is Torry Dugan and I am a senior at Pottstown High School. For my senior project I wanted to do something I love and give back to my community in some way. By starting the first annual "Challenge Run" I hope to raise money for Pottstown's Clean and Safe Streets Initiative. The Downtown District has a small budget. By initiating a 5k run with a "twist" I hope to increase their ability to have professional sidewalk cleaning, leaf removal & plantings in the winter months for the large planters. All of which have been left to the wayside due to the small budget.
I am a Varsity Cross Country and Track runner for my high school and have been competing since the 4th grade. This passion of mine has allowed me exceed my expectations and has helped push me to reach even bigger goals.
I will be attending Susquehanna University next year and continue to run there. I have been awarded the Dean's scholarship, which is given to one female & one male for their academic excellence, sportsmanship and all around community service.
My mission in starting this annual Challenge Run is to give back to the local community of which I call home.
1) Can you carry an egg until you hit the finish line? We will supply the eggs if you supply the endurance it takes to handle a fragile egg while competing with the best!
2) Burpees - not too may, just enough to make you want to reach the finish line first!
3) Hopscotch anyone?
We greatly appreciate your support this year and in years to come. I hope to see all of you there!
